(Photo by NATALIA KOLESNIKOVA\/AFP via Getty Images) <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"single-article__content\">\n<div class=\"single-article__content-inner has-drop-cap\"> <html readability=\"44.591754051478\"><body readability=\"89.959951159951\"><\/p>\n<p>Unidentified hackers claimed to have targeted Dozor, a satellite telecommunications provider that services power lines, oil fields, Russian military units and the Federal Security Service (FSB), among others, according to a message posted to Telegram late Wednesday night. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe DoZor satellite provider (Amtel group of companies), which serves power lines, oil fields, military units of the Russian Defense Ministry, the Federal Security Service, the pension fund and many other projects, including the northern merchant fleet and the Bilibino nuclear power plant, went to rest,\u201d the group\u2019s first message read, according to a translation. \u201cPart of the satellite terminals failed, the switches rebooted, the information on the servers was destroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The hackers also claimed to have defaced four seemingly unconnected Russian websites with messaging supportive of the Wagner private military company, the Russian mercenary group that made international headlines last weekend as it marched toward Moscow in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/06\/27\/world\/europe\/prigozhin-wagner-russia-putin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an astonishing uprising<\/a> that challenged the power of Russian President Vladimir Putin, before the group stopped short.<\/p>\n<p>The group\u2019s leadership was relocated to Belarus, a staunch Russian ally. Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of Wagner, also created and funded the Internet Research Agency, a troll farm that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/national-security\/u-s-treasury-sanctions-putin-s-chef-more-attempted-election-n1060346\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">U.S. government sanctioned<\/a> for its role in the sweeping Russian election interference operations targeting the 2016 U.S. presidential elections and then the 2018 elections.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad ad--inline_1 \">\n<div class=\"ad__inner\"> <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Advertisement<\/span> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2023\/06\/27\/world\/russia-ukraine-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said he argued against<\/a> Putin\u2019s contemplation of killing Prigozhin for leading the uprising, and instead brokered the deal to send Prigozhin to Belarus.<\/p>\n<p>The message posted to the defaced websites showed the Wagner insignia, along with a message about the uprising and its results. \u201cWe agreed to a peaceful solution because we achieved the main thing \u2014 we showed our capabilities and full social approval of our actions,\u201d the message read, according to a Google translation. \u201cBut what do we see instead?
