href=\"https:\/\/cyberscoop.com\/crowdstrike-falcon-flaw-microsoft-outage-flights-grounded-windows\/\">impacted by the Microsoft outage linked to the software firm CrowdStrike<\/a> that\u2019s resulted in massive issues for businesses worldwide. <\/p>\n<p>In a post on X, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DHSgov\/status\/1814286042318643492?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet\">said<\/a> they \u201care working with CrowdStrike, Microsoft and our federal, state, local and critical infrastructure partners to fully assess and address system outages.\u201d President Joe Biden has been briefed on the matter and his team is in touch with CrowdStrike and \u201cimpacted entities,\u201d a White House official told a pool reporter. <\/p>\n<p>The Social Security Administration, meanwhile, has closed all offices Friday because of a \u201cglobal IT outage,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/agency\/emergency\/\">according to the agency\u2019s website<\/a>. SSA said that individuals should expect longer call wait times for its national 800 number and that \u201csome online services are unavailable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department was also affected and has alerted users, according to an emailed statement from a spokesperson.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad ad--inline_1 \">\n<div class=\"ad__inner\"> <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Advertisement<\/span> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe DOJ Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is actively troubleshooting possible workarounds with Component CIOs and technical teams while CrowdStrike, the vendor, is attempting to resolve the problem,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>An agency manager within the Department of Homeland Security reported that some of their staff had trouble logging into desktop computers and had to spend the morning working on phones or through virtual desktop or web pages applications. <\/p>\n<p>The Enterprise Service Desk at the Department of Veterans Affairs is also down, according to a person familiar with the matter, though it\u2019s not yet clear if it\u2019s related to the CrowdStrike flaw.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FAANews\/status\/1814236439359393845\">said<\/a> it was \u201cclosely monitoring a technical issue impacting IT systems at U.S. airlines\u201d but did not say whether the issue had impacted government-operated systems. The agency later added that current \u201cFAA operations are not impacted by the global IT issue\u201d but that it is monitoring the situation.<\/p>\n<p>The Energy Department\u2019s website also appears to be offline. Several attempts to visit the energy.gov domain resulted in a 503 error noting that a backend fetch failed. The Energy Department did not respond to a request for comment about whether the CrowdStrike issue is related to the outage. <\/p>\n<div class=\"ad ad--inline_1 \">\n<div class=\"ad__inner\"> <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Advertisement<\/span> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>A Nuclear Regulatory Commission spokesperson told FedScoop in an email Friday that the agency is operating normally.
