And yet, Canadian retail banking customers appear on pace to lose as much as or more than the&nbsp;$569 million&nbsp;they lost to&nbsp;fraud&nbsp;in 2023 (triple what they lost in 2021).&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"ContentText ContentText_variant_bodyNormal\" data-testid=\"content-text\"><a class=\"ContentText-BodyTextChunk ContentText-BodyTextChunk_link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biocatch.com\">BioCatch<\/a><\/span><span class=\"ContentText ContentText_variant_bodyNormal\" data-testid=\"content-text\">&nbsp;\u2013 the global leader in digital&nbsp;fraud&nbsp;detection and financial crime prevention powered by behavioral biometric intelligence \u2013 says these findings suggest fraudsters have altered their strategies, honing attacks to target fewer Canadians for more money per scam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ContentParagraph ContentParagraph_align_left\" data-testid=\"content-paragraph\"><span class=\"ContentText ContentText_variant_bodyNormal\" data-testid=\"content-text\">&#8220;While&nbsp;fraud&nbsp;volumes have decreased significantly over the last year, we&#8217;re observing an increase in the average value of these cases,&#8221; BioCatch Director of Global&nbsp;Fraud&nbsp;Intelligence&nbsp;Tom Peacock&nbsp;said. &#8220;We can attribute much of this to the rise in social engineering scams in&nbsp;Canada, particularly impersonation scams, which are notoriously higher value than other&nbsp;fraud&nbsp;types.
