administration startup, in a deal worth up to $175 million.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cyberark.com\/press\/cyberark-acquires-zilla-security-to-reshape-identity-governance-and-administration-for-the-modern-enterprise\/\">announced Thursday<\/a>, includes $165 million in cash and a $10 million earn-out contingent on performance milestones. Zilla\u2019s co-founders, CEO Deepak Taneja and Nitin Sonawane, along with their team, will join CyberArk. Zilla\u2019s flagship products \u2014 Zilla Comply and Zilla Provisioning \u2014 will be integrated into CyberArk\u2019s Identity Security Platform as standalone offerings.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1999, CyberArk has traditionally built its reputation on securing privileged access across enterprise systems. In recent years, the company has bolstered its portfolio through a series of acquisitions, the most significant being the $1.54 billion purchase of machine identity firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crn.com\/news\/security\/2024\/cyberark-to-acquire-machine-identity-firm-venafi-for-1-54b\">Venafi last year<\/a>. Together with this latest move, CyberArk seeks to expand its reach into modern identity security \u2014 an area increasingly critical as organizations shift toward hybrid and cloud-based environments.<\/p>\n<p>Zilla Security, established in 2019 and also based in Boston, offers a cloud-native solution that emphasizes automation and artificial intelligence. The platform is designed to address the challenges posed by legacy identity systems, which were built primarily for on-premises infrastructure. In contrast, Zilla\u2019s automated processes aim to simplify identity compliance and provisioning.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad ad--inline_1 \">\n<div class=\"ad__inner\"> <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Advertisement<\/span> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhat worked 20 years ago clearly doesn\u2019t work today,\u201d Taneja said in a release. \u201cZilla represents a fundamental shift in how organizations can manage identity governance and administration (IGA). Since its NASDAQ debut in 2014, the company\u2019s shares have grown more than 1,000% from the IPO price.
