(Sergey Kolupaev\/EPNAC) <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"single-article__content\">\n<div class=\"single-article__content-inner has-drop-cap\"> <html readability=\"29.818691037736\"><body readability=\"62.299898682877\"><\/p>\n<p>Federal cyber officials aren\u2019t seeing a significant change in attacks tied to Iran since the conflict there began, at least not yet, but they are on the lookout for any uptick and are focusing on the Stryker attack in particular.<\/p>\n<p>Terry Kalka \u2014 director of the Defense Industrial Base Collaborative Information Sharing Environment at The Defense Department\u2019s Cyber Crime Center \u2014 said Thursday that \u201cthere\u2019s some basic indicators, there\u2019s some known\u201d tactics, techniques and procedures, but \u201cwe\u2019re not seeing a tremendous amount of impact yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That sentiment aligns with what the acting director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Nick Andersen, told reporters on Tuesday: \u201cWe still are seeing a steady state. We have not seen an increase or any rise of threat actor activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But both men said they\u2019re monitoring to see if that changes. \u201cWe are very much on the alert for, if not Iran, Iran-influenced actors,\u201d Kalka told CyberScoop at the Elastic Public Sector Summit.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad ad--inline_1 \">\n<div class=\"ad__inner\"> <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Advertisement<\/span> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>On Thursday, CISA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/news-events\/alerts\/2026\/03\/18\/cisa-urges-endpoint-management-system-hardening-after-cyberattack-against-us-organization\">issued recommendations<\/a> tied to this month\u2019s cyberattack on medical device maker Stryker, the <a href=\"https:\/\/cyberscoop.com\/stryker-cyberattack-iranian-hackers-handala\/\">most eye-catching cyber activity with Iran links<\/a> after an Iranian hacking group known as Handala claimed credit for the attack.<\/p>\n<p>CISA urged organizations to improve their defenses of endpoint management systems after the attack caused global disruptions to Stryker\u2019s Microsoft environment. CISA made several recommendations , including to set up safeguards in Microsoft\u2019s Intune endpoint management tool.<\/p>\n<p>Stryker has contracts with the Defense Department.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all paying attention to the Stryker incident that broke last week, because there are implications there for communications technology and private information or corporate information that, even if it\u2019s not defense Information, getting access to someone\u2019s email and understanding the infrastructure of the company is very, very useful,\u201d Kalka said.<\/p>\n<p>Andersen said CISA has been in touch with Stryker, as has the FBI. On Thursday, it was reported that the FBI and the Justice Department <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/03\/19\/fbi-seizes-pro-iranian-hacking-groups-websites-after-destructive-stryker-hack\/\">took down two websites<\/a> linked to Handala. <\/p>\n<div class=\"ad ad--inline_1 \">\n<div class=\"ad__inner\"> <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Advertisement<\/span> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Andersen said the agency\u2019s approach doesn\u2019t change much because of the conflict, however.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just can\u2019t take our eyes off of the fact that other adversaries continue to make maneuvers in this space,\u201d he said at an event hosted by Auburn University\u2019s McCrary Institute. \u201cCybercriminal groups continue to make moves within this space. It was not just about one nation-state at one particular point in time.
